In 1837 the brothers Rate decided to build a distillery south of Edinburgh in a land that gives the best barley that we can grow in Scotland. According to tradition whiskey produced a particularly soft and good structure, flavor net suiting the sophisticated clientele of Edinburgh. In 1890 the distillery was rebuilt larger and were installed two of the largest stills of Scotland. The cooling coil is cast iron, and this process assists in making Glenkinchie particularly rich in aroma and taste. Recently the company has decided to enter the new quality aged 12 years, considerably richer both on the nose, both taste than the younger versions. Since gold has a shiny nose fresh, lively, full of aromatic herbs, sage, rosemary, wild flowers, wisteria, lemon peel, green apple, butterscotch, pipe tobacco, chocolate, leather, date, licorice root. The taste is balanced, velvety and enveloping, clearly presents hints of chocolate, custard, vanilla, citrus, fruitcake. It is quite persistent and with its notes of flowers and wood surrounds the mouth mentendola dry with a final net and decided never biased towards the high alcohol content of 43 percent alcohol.
