In 1837 the brothers Rate decided to build a distillery south of Edinburgh in a land that gives the best barley that we can grow in Scotland. According to tradition whiskey produced a particularly soft and good structure, flavor net suiting the sophisticated clientele of Edinburgh. In 1890 the distillery was rebuilt larger and were installed two of the largest stills of Scotland. The taste is balanced, velvety and enveloping, clearly presents hints of chocolate, custard, vanilla, citrus, fruitcake.
