Argiolas' Vermentino 'Costamolino' is one of the most representative and well-known labels of this historic Sardinian wine brand. It is made from the most widely cultivated white grape variety on the island, so much so that it has become a true symbol of local food and wine. Always a lover of the maritime climate, Vermentino is very well adapted to being cultivated in the first hinterland of the Mediterranean coasts: whether in Provence, Corsica or along the Riviera Ligure di Levante and the Tuscan coast. In the Serdiana area, it yields whites with great personality, fresh and elegant, bringing out its best characteristics.
'Costamolino' is a Vermentino from Argiolas, the famous Sardinian winery in Serdiana. The Argiolas family has been dedicated to the vine since the beginning of the 20th century and has managed to maintain a close relationship with the traditional winemaking customs of the area. Today, it is one of the most prestigious wineries on the island and offers a range of wines that exalt the qualities of native Sardinian grape varieties. The Vermentino grapes used to produce the label come from the winery's vineyards located in the hilly areas of Pranu Sturru-Suelli, Costa Bancodi and Preda Campus-Selegas, at an altitude of around 200 metres above sea level. The climate is typically Mediterranean, mitigated by sea breezes that drift inland. The grapes are gently pressed and the free-run juice ferments in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C. Bottling takes place after several months of ageing in steel vats on the fine lees.
"Costamolino" produced by the Sardinian winery Argiolas is a Vermentino with an intense profile and Mediterranean character, reflecting both the varietal personality of the vine and its place of origin. Always a lover of sun, wind and sea, it is particularly well suited to accompany hors d'oeuvres and seafood dishes, such as a traditional dish of spaghetti with clams or fregola with shellfish. Pale straw yellow in colour with light greenish hues, it has an olfactory profile characterised by aromas of white-fleshed fruit, tropical fruit, citrus hints, floral notes and aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis, typical of the Sardinian coast. The palate is pleasantly fruity with ripe fruit aromas, good aromatic intensity and a fresh, pleasantly savoury finish.
