Soave Classico 'Calvarino' Pieropan 2016

Soave Classico Calvarino by Pieropan is considered the most authentic expression of the traditional terroir of Soave, since its first production in 1971. The family Pieropan has always been dedicated with immense commitment at Soave wine and at the historic vineyards of Calvarino (rich in clay and basaltic tuffs able to give great flavor and minerality to the wines produced here), being aware of the great value of the wine tradition of Veneto and of the agricultural treasure in their possession. The conviction of the centrality of the vineyards, the relentless pursuit of quality and the continuous renewal of processes have been characterizing for four generations of winemaking the identity of Pieropan, now carried on by the grandson of the founder Leonildo, his wife Teresita and their sons Andrea and Dario . Pieropan’s wines arise always from an exasperated attention and selection of the best grapes: Calvarino come in particular from the best Garganega grapes merging into one of the most famous Cru of Soave region. The vineyard of Calvarino is located in the heart of the Soave Classico zone and represents the company's oldest fund, bought in 1900. The name Calvarino derives from "small calvary", for the difficulty of tillage and the circuitous path necessary to reach the bottom of the vineyard. Comes from this beautiful and complicated terroir one of the most distinctive Soave wines signed by Pieropan, strongly varietal and carrying a distinctive freshness.
