Rosso di Montalcino Le Ragnaie 2018

Rosso di Montalcino by Le Ragnaie resumes the most famous features of Sangiovese grapes, grown here in one of the highest points of the district of Montalcino at about 600 meters above sea level, in the vineyards of Lago, Fonte and Cappuccini. The high altitude confers to the wines produced here a very elegant flavor profile, less muscular and thinner than the canons of Montalcino. The great virtues of Riccardo Campinuovi, based in Le Ragnaie since 2002, are visible in a production philosophy which protects the land, with farming practices at a low environmental impact without any use of chemical fertilizers or herbicides and perennial grass-cover of the vineyards. In the cellar, each procedure is intended to give back the correct expression of the vine, never overwhelmed by intrusive interventions: long maceration ensure complete extraction of polyphenols, while the aging in casks governs the evolution of the wine without transferring excessive contributions from the wood. All this means that the wines of Le Ragnaie tell the story of the terroir in a linear way, even because of an extensive selection of grapes according to the vineyards and separate vinifications. This Rosso di Montalcino respects these prerogatives, presenting in the glass in a clear way the pure characteristics of the fruit on the palate, with a long finish that turn it in a great representative of its class of wines.
