Cabernet Sauvignon 'Vigna San Francesco' Tasca d'Almerita 2018

The Cabernet Sauvignon by Tasca d'Almerita is one of the first wines of this type to be produced in Sicily, in the famous Tenuta Regaleali. The property, historically known as one of the most fertile feuds of Central Sicily, boasts an excellent geographical position, between the hills to the outposts of Madonie mountain range, ensuring cold winters and strong temperature range in summer, following a more continental climate than mediterranean, with more-than-perfect conditions for grape ripening. The first pilot plant for Cabernet Sauvignon goes back to 1979, while the first rows for production were put into field in 1985. The idea of including the bordelaise grape in the production plans, not yet allowed at that time in the product regulations, derived from a prophetic intuition of Count Lucio Tasca, that opted for a production system of 3000 and 4000 plants with double guyot pruning, in accordance with the typical style of the French, to specifically meet the complex needs of the variety. The introduction of international grape varieties in the production regulations, happened in 1988, has paid these choices, and today Cabernet Sauvignon by Tasca d'Almerita is a well-established reality with a strong international recognition, as evidenced by all the awards assigned continuously since 1990 onwards
